KIM BLÆSBJERG, born in 1974, hails from Lemvig, Denmark, where he grew up as the son of a factory seamstress and a chimney sweep. In 1994, he moved to Copenhagen and attended the Danish Writers’ School from 1995 to 1997, eventually earning an MA in Danish from the University of Copenhagen.
Blæsbjerg made his literary breakthrough in 2007 with his novel The Town Hall Climber. Since then, he has published several acclaimed works, including the recent three-volume series The Deserters, which earned him a three-year work grant from the Danish Arts Foundation.
In 2023, Blæsbjerg received the prestigious Booksellers’ Honorary Award, The Golden Laurels, for his novel Even In The Best of Families. This award is given annually based on votes from Danish booksellers. Additionally, he won Jyllands-Posten’s Fiction Prize and was voted Novel of the Year by the Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR Romanpris) in 2024.
