IN THE FORESTS outside Nybro in Småland, a bridge is blown up. Two forestry workers die that night, and three young people disappear. One of them is seventeen-year-old Julia.

INSTEAD OF GOING to the police, her father Silas turns to his old school friend: lawyer Erik Häll.

AFTER HIS FATHER’S death, Erik left Stockholm for the family home in Nybro, where he runs a law firm, sometimes with less careful methods.

THE MORE ERIK digs into the Julia case and how it relates to the bombing in the forest, the more he realises that sooner or later he will have to choose between his professional role and his conscience – between his clients and his heart.
