We would like to announce that we have acquired Nilsson Literary Agency based in Malmö. The two agencies have had a close contact during the past years and it is with pride we continue the work that has been done by Henrik Nilsson, who now solely will focus on his author career. Authors from Nilsson Agency that will join us are Carina Bergfeldt, Torbjörn Flygt, Åsa Foster, Ninni Holmqvist, Anna Karolina Larsson, Björn Larsson, Henrik B. Nilsson and Mårten Sandén. These author are among the top in their respective genre and we are very happy to have their confidence to represent them under the Nordin Agency flag and to continue to manage their works of literature.
The Swedish Crime Academy has named Thomas Engström’s West of Liberty (“Väster om friheten”) the Crime Debut of the Year with the following motivation: “A fully developed international thriller in an aptly portrayed Berlin setting.” Some of the previous winners of the debutant prize include well-known household names such as Håkan Nesser, Åsa Larsson and Johan Theorin.
West of Liberty – published by Albert Bonniers Förlag – is the first title in a trilogy about former Stasi agent Ludwig Licht. The book has received plenty of positive attention in the Swedish press with Skånska Dagbladet calling it “a spy novel to fall in love with” and Aftonbladet’s Ingalill Mosander comparing Engström to John le Carré (“but with more humour”) and branding it “a thriller of high international standard.”
While the book isn’t actually Engström’s first novel, it is however his first as a crime author and judging by the response it has been a very successful transition. Congratulations, Thomas!

With her stunning novel, The Boys, Jessica Schiefaur has established herself as one of our most interesting literary young adult authors in Sweden. We are proud to welcome her to Nordin agency!
Jessica’s writing raise the important questions that adolescense brings and is about the defining moment in life that the leap from teen to adult means. With unadorned style, powerful images and a languge that is both soft and severe her thrilling novel has impressed both readers and critics.
The Boys, the play is opening at Uppsala City Theatre on October 9 and will tour with the National Theatre later in the fall.

The Boys is nominated for the Nordic Council Children and Young People’s Literature Prize, the winner will be announced in Oslo on October 30 and the ceremony will be broadcasted throughout Scandinavia.
Niklas Rådström’s new novel “Boken” (“The Book”) appears to have struck a chord with the Swedish critics. Dagen’s Nyheter’s Jonas Thente calls it “a marvellously beautiful and moving novel” while Svenska Dagbladet’s Josefin Holmström brands it “an indefeasible piece of literature“. Crister Enander of Helsingborg’s Dagblad is similarly enthusiastic: Niklas Rådström’s prose possesses a lustre and acuity that is astounding and uncomparable. I read “Boken” with a mixture of devoutness and entrapped rapture. The prose entices and glistens, shimmers and breathes. It is beautiful and melancholic. It seduces and captivates.
Nordin agency is happy to give a warm welcome to Mats Söderlund as a new client.
Mats Söderlund is a well-known poet, has won numerous literary awards and is regarded as one of the most headstrong nature poets in Sweden.
His first novel, published this spring, was well received by critics. The Observatory shows the same linguistic awareness and power that characterizes his poetry.
Svensk Bokhandel has nominated Resan till Tidens slut (The journey to the end of time) for best book trailer 2013 in the category young adult. The trailer was made by the author Erika Vallin and her husband Martin.
