Per Hagman’s new novel Johannes and You is now available in Sweden, the book is published by Albert Bonniers.
The Johannes neighbourhood is a place where worlds collide. Members of high society live up by the church, while much shadier activities take place just on the other side. The site of Olof Palme’s murder is a stone’s throw to the west. A writer moves into the neighbourhood and, together with his young daughter, discovers the city anew. Johannes and You is about a neighbourhood and a little girl, but also about a father who remembers his own parents and childhood. The novel sees the modern city through Per Hagman’s distinctive gaze, his first book since Cigarette set exclusively in Stockholm. It can also be described as an older cousin to To Come Home Should be a Hit Song, switching late-night antics for wide-eyed walks to and from preschool.
