Kristian Bang Foss is taking new paths with a witty, brutal, and exceptionally well-written epic Bronze Age novel. For contemporary readers, grotesque rituals and bloody battles on rivers and land are vividly portrayed, as if it were a film, and more sensitive scenes between spouses and fathers and sons also resonate strongly. While some of Kristian Bang Foss’s readers might be disappointed, history enthusiasts will be thrilled to have such a well-written and poetic take on the distant history’s great dramas and rituals.
