ON THE MORNING of New Year’s Eve, Berit Gardner is sitting in her favourite armchair in her cottage in Cornwall when the phone suddenly rings. It is a voice from the past that asks her to come immediately. A few hours later, Berit watches the palm trees sway in the evening breeze in southern Tenerife. But after a spectacular New Year’s party, a man is found dead in a room that is locked – from the inside.

OFFICER WEI LIN of the Policía Nacional is convinced that the man has been murdered. And he desperately needs Berit’s help to solve the murder. Following in the footsteps of Agatha Christie, she is forced to use all her wits to prove not only who committed the murder, but how it happened. At least one thing is certain. The killer will not hesitate to strike again.
