For the sixth year in a row, BookBeat celebrates the best crime novel of the year and the Swedish Crime Writer of the Year at the Crimetime festival at the Göteborg Book Fair. The Swedish Crime Writer of the Year 2024 award this year goes to Viveca Sten. Viveca Sten’s book Hidden in Lies, the fourth part in the Åremorden series, was also nominated for Swedish Crime Book of the Year 2024.

The awards are entirely data-driven and are based on how popular, listened to and liked the nominated authors and books have been over the past year.
Viveca Sten made her debut in 2008 with the crime novel Still Waters and has since published ten more books in the Sandhamn Murders series, which has also given rise to a hugely popular TV series. Viveca spends her winters in Åre, which inspired her to write the new Åre Murders series. The first installment, Hidden in Snow, was published in 2020 and received an outstanding reception from both critics and readers. In the fall of 2024, the fifth book in the series, Hidden in Mercy, will be published. The Åre Murders will also become a TV series. Viveca Sten’s books have been translated into many languages and have been published all over the world.
