SKUGGSPELET – THE SHADOW PLAY
By Anna Bågstam
A WOMAN HAS disappeared under strange circumstances. Everything suggests that she has been kidnapped. Soon a corpse floats ashore in the small fishing village of Lerviken in Öresund. The victim has burns and cannot be identified. Who is trying to cover their tracks?
CIVIL INVESTIGATOR HARRIET Vesterberg is working hard to find the perpetrator. At the same time, she keeps a watchful eye on her forgetful father Eugen, and struggles with her faltering relationship with lawyer Rikard, whose polished exterior hides a secret. In parallel with the events in Lerviken, a political summit is approaching in Landskrona. Harriet’s boss Margareta starts working with a career-minded local politician, but Harriet suspects that the politician has browner values than she publicly represents. Soon Harriet finds herself in a desperate race against the clock, faced with the choice of breaking the rules or following them, with devastating consequences.
THE SHADOW PLAY is the second standalone instalment in Anna Bågstam’s crime series set in the picturesque fishing village of Lerviken, starring the funny, flawed, sneaky-smoking civil investigator Harriet.
