WHEN A SERIAL a serial criminal with a specific modus operandi terrorises Landskrona, the civilian investigator Harriet and her colleagues are put on the case. An outsider gives Harriet secret access to several old cases with links to the new offences. She can immediately see that the previous investigations have been sabotaged. Everything indicates that one of her closest colleagues is guilty.

ON A PERSONAL level, her relationship with lawyer Rikard is creaking at the seams, and her charming colleague Elias is giving her signs that are difficult to interpret. Soon there is no time to think about love at all, when her father Eugen falls seriously ill and her mother Jorun turns up for Christmas. As the hunt for the perpetrator intensifies, Harriet tries to find the person on the inside who is helping him. The truth turns out to be far more surprising than she could have imagined.
