John Ajvide Lindqvist
SVT is adapting John Ajvide Lindqvist’s novel The Summer ’85 into a six-episode series set in the Stockholm archipelago. The story follows 14-year-old Johannes and his friends as they uncover a mysterious creature after a boy’s unexplained drowning.
Amy Deasismont and Melina Maraki have written the script, with Deasismont co-directing alongside Björn Stein. Filming starts in spring, and the series, produced by Media Res International, premieres in 2026.
