BESTSELLING AUTHOR TOM Buk-Swienty is a historian and journalist, and in his historical books and biographies, he employs both disciplines whether he narratively unfolds events surrounding the Danish-German War of 1864, Karen Blixen’s years in Africa or the story of an ordinary German soldier during World War II.

BUK-SWIENTY HOLDS A Master of Arts degree in History and American Studies from the University of Copenhagen and the University of California. From 1994 to 2005, he worked as a journalist and USA correspondent for Weekendavisen, and thereafter, he served as a lecturer at the University of Southern Denmark in Odense until 2010.
Today, he is an independent author and was appointed an adjunct professor of history at the University of Southern Denmark in 2014.

IN 2020, HE was chosen by Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II to write her memoirs about her life before ascending to the throne in 1972.

HAS HAS RECEIVED numerous awards, including the Rungstedlund Prize in 2015, Weekendavisen’s Literature Prize in 2014, and the Søren Gyldendal Prize in 2010.
