PUNKTUM PUNKTUM KOMMA STREG – BREAKING

By Pia Konstantine Berg

NORA HAS RELUCTANTLY returned to Odense to pursue her studies in journalism. The city is a constant reminder of everything she’s tried to forget over the past three years. She keeps everyone around her at a safe distance and rather parties away from reality. But perhaps a fresh start is exactly what she needs? What she certainly doesn’t need is an arrogant, know-it-all teacher who can see right through her. Mads, a young  star reporter, might be a big deal to others, but Nora is determined not to be impressed by the famous Mr. News. She has enough on her plate as it is…

NORA’S FATHER, HIMSELF a renowned journalist and two-time Cavling winner, has had a serious accident during a research trip to the Middle East and now suffers from ‘Locked-In Syndrome’, which means he can neither move nor speak. Nora, who has always looked up to her father, feels that his life after the accident is undignified and, convinced that he would rather be dead than live so limited, she decides that he is dead to her. As a result, she hasn’t visited him in the three years he has lain motionless in a nursing home.

BUT AS HER feelings for Mads become more and more serious, Nora’s facade begins to crack, and through falling in love she experiences the necessary personal redemption that gives her the courage to seek out her father again and to make peace with the curveballs life throws at you.

“Berg has an amazing ability to balance humor and seriousness, which makes reading both fun and thought-provoking … Punktum punktum punktum komma streg is a wonderful mix of romance, comedy and seriousness, and I highly recommend it to anyone in need of an entertaining and heartwarming reading experience.” – Sharon Voldby, kulturhjornet

“A wonderful novel where fun and seriousness are finely balanced. The language is fluent and describes places, people and emotions very accurately. I almost thought I knew Nora, Mads, Boris, Asta and the others. I didn’t want to say goodbye to them at all, but I would have liked to follow them further down the road. A very nice reading experience.” – Randi Glensbo

“I was really pleasantly surprised by the novel, which at first glance looked like a classic romance, but ended up being so much more than that. It was a pleasure to read the book, juggling with words in an entertaining way.” – book ninja

“Berg has written a suspenseful book about being a young person and trying to find your way in life. The book paints the themes of doubt, loneliness, grief and love … The language is vivid and easy to read in its style … The book is aimed at young people in the New Adult target group, and I think there are more young people who will be able to find comfort through Nora.” – amaliesbogunivers

“It grabbed me right away, I swallowed it in one bite and finished it before the first day was over. I just had to know what happened next. Almost as if the pages just turned themselves! Full stop full stop comma dash is a super fun and relatable love story.” – mizmiyaslibrary

“If there is something that the author nails every time, it’s the way she uses her surroundings, thoughts and character to give the reader a comfort and intimacy in the book… The author writes really well and has an easy and fluid language, mixed with linguistic nuances and imagery.” – Miya, mullesbookblog

“There is a nerve in the descriptions of the characters, relationships and plot … There are unexpected layers in the story that add depth. There are razor-sharp and sizzling dialogs … A wonderful mix of fun, seriousness and love wrapped in an interesting insight into the world of journalism and student life. A novel I highly recommend.” – Maria, The_people_in_my_life

“Highly entertaining and well-written romantic comedy about a study start that doesn’t go as expected. Nora is strong and has a lot to deal with. Therefore, there is also a seriousness in the book that gives the story depth.” – Danish Library Center, Anna Kirstine Pedersen / Reader review

“I completely disappeared into this wonderful novel about starting university, friendships and falling in love with a solid touch of humor. It will probably be on the “feel-good” shelf at the end, where there is also some meat to the plot. I was well entertained from the first page to the last.” – hardulaest
