FALLET VALENTINA – THE VALENTINA CASE
By Anna Bågstam
PEGASUS, A LAW firm trying to establish itself as a new criminal law firm, is looking for new assignments. When Henrik, a 45-year-old man from Värmdö, is arrested for kidnapping, his defence lawyer Lydia immediately agrees to represent him. Henrik’s partner Valentina has been missing for a few days and the police suspect that she is not hiding voluntarily but that Henrik has hurt her. Henrik claims that he is innocent and that he does not know where Valentina is. She was nowhere to be found when he woke up, but the only people at home the night she disappeared were Henrik and his 14-year-old son Ville.
EX-POLICEMAN LUNKEN, who helps Lydia at Pegasus, is from Värmdö and knows Henrik, Valentina and Ville. They are a special family and he is convinced that Henrik is lying. When traces of blood are found in the house, Henrik is arrested against his will. Shortly afterwards, Valentina’s body is found and the case is reclassified as murder. Lydia doesn’t trust Henrik and when her assistant lawyer Alex starts investigating the case and what really happened to Valentina, they soon realise that Henrik isn’t the only one lying. But the more clues Alex finds, the clearer it becomes that nothing is as it first seemed and that no one can be trusted.
THE PEGASUS SERIES is a modern-day Perry Mason but with a female defence lawyer in the lead role. The series also features her young associate Alex and the adventurous former police officer and private investigator Lunken. Together, they make up the Pegasus Law Firm, which takes on new cases in each book, each with a dilemma.
