UNDER EN ANDEN HIMMEL – UNDER FOREIGN SKIES
By Mich Vraa
A NOVEL ABOUT A DESTINY FAR BEYOND THE ORDINARY
EMMA IS IN Southern France to clean out her father’s house after his death. Grief and longing gnaw at her. She is the result of a fleeting summer fling and has had contact with her father for only six years. Now he’s gone forever.
ONE DAY, WHILE searching for mushrooms in the nearby forest, she comes across a confused elderly man who seems to have a special talent for finding truffles.
HE TELLS HER his life story: from a childhood spent in French Indochina during the 1930s and later in Southern France to his youth in Paris, Hong Kong, Algeria, and London. Right up until the day a random dinner invitation irreversibly changes his future, thereby fulfilling a grim prophecy he received in Hong Kong as a young man.
AN UNLIKELY FRIENDSHIP develops during the days Emma spends with the enigmatic and cultured world traveller. Although the two unite in their shared passion for food Emma never learns the old man’s identity nor his fate.
THE OLD MAN is Prince Henrik of Denmark, born Henri Marie Jean André de Laborde de Monpezat, and the husband of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark. He did disappear for more than a week during the late summer of 2017, six months before his death at the age of 83. When he returned from his absence he declared that he did not want to be buried alongside his wife.
UNDER ANOTHER SKY is a novel about what could have happened during Prince Henrik’s mysterious absence.
